Episode 81: There’s No Worries, No Mistakes, Just Love

We think joy is only to be found in the highest highs, but looking for smaller joys sprinkled throughout our days trains us to be more appreciative, and ultimately more grateful and happy.

The sound the bicycle makes as you pedal uphill.

A large model of the solar system that leaves you in awe of the planets.

Watching a baby fall asleep, their gentle breathing, little movements.

Making the final payment on a loan.

Watching a flag wave in the breeze.

A night out with your best friends, one of those rare nights where there’s no worries, no mistakes, just love.

A long conversation where you both come to an understanding.

Playing a board game with a huge group of people, everyone jeering and laughing hysterically.

Playing the piano for hours and hours your fingers dancing over the keys, the melodies pouring forth.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck late at night, the wind whipping through your hair.

A slice of crescent moon, hung high in the dark sky.

Remembering how it felt to be lifted up and carried, as a child.

Growing more familiar with your own perspective on the world, knowing your own thoughts well.

Small crabs scuttling in surf and sand, the waves lapping at your toes.

A perfectly cuffed pant leg.

Clothes with really good pockets.

A good long conversation on the phone with your parents.

When someone tells you a story that reminded them of you.

Using sandpaper to smooth down rough edges.

A cactus garden with dozens of kinds of thorny friends.
