Episode 100: A Love Letter to You, Straight from The Heart

This one's an actual love letter I wrote, just for you. We'll be back to regular on Wednesday, but for now, let's get way too close and share far too much for five minutes.

The other day I had the idea that I wanted to embroider your initials on a handkerchief and wave it out a window at you. I think maybe I’m imagining I’m in a train car and you’re running alongside the train, waving to me.  Maybe I could spritz some perfume on it and just gently let it go out of my window, and it’d drift down to you before you caught it in your outstretched hand.

Sometimes I think that the way I feel about you is too much, too big, too wild to be contained or explained in words. But I’m gonna try anyway.

The other day a friend of mine asked me what I was smiling about and I kind of looked away and said “nothing.” But I was thinking about you. Nothing in particular about you, just you.

A thing I really like about you is how you brave you are, even in the smallest things. It helps me look for opportunities to be brave too. It isn’t even anything big, just those everyday moments where most people wish they had acted differently, you always seem to rise to the occasion. I like that, a lot.

We were on the phone last week and the way you said a certain word made me want to laugh, it was so different, so… enchanting? I guess that isn’t the right word, but I guess saying certain words out loud is a sort of enchantment. I’m very enchanted these days. Staring off into space, smiling more than I thought I would.

Sometimes when we’re sitting next to each other, I like counting the freckles on your arm, making little constellations in my own mind.

You listen, really well. I know if I tell you something, you’ll remember it and pay attention… not just to what I’m saying but with your full attention and you ask me about it later. That means a lot to me.

There’s so much more I could say, but don’t worry… we have a long time, and I’ll get to all of it, so thank you.
