Episode 107: Camping: All The Very Best Things

A joyful ode to the great outdoors, hammocks, icy rivers, camping clothes and staying up late staring at the stars!

Setting up the tent, putting together the long poles and making sure it’s safe and sound.

Waking up extra early to watch the sun rise over the mountains, flooding the valley with golden light.

Making coffee on the camping stove early in the morning, jumping from foot to foot to stay warm.

Cooking over a campfire, the food tastes even better when you’re hungry.

Discovering new kinds of plants all around you, gorgeous living things you’ve never seen before.

Everything is an adventure waiting to happen, with new memories to be made.

Reading a map, using your compass, discovering new skills all day long.

Going on a long hike, on a trail you’ve been looking forward to for a long time.

Being able to be in a remote place, without too many other people around.

Seeing wildlife so close you can’t believe it, deer, elk, birds, lizards…

Lounging around without much to do, maybe just reading and snacking in the afternoon.

No cell service, being able to be completely unplugged for a few days.

Putting up a hammock and swinging lazily between two trees

Staying up late talking around the campfire, sharing stories and old memories with people you love.

Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable in many small ways you never thought about before.

Swimming or floating in the cold river, enjoying the chill of the rushing water, the rock and small waterfalls.

Watching the stars shine so brilliantly late at night without other lights around.

Crawling into your warm sleeping bag late at night, listening to the quiet sounds of the forest all around you.

Taking pictures that stun you, even years later, how beautiful the world around us can be, so full of life.
