Episode 134: A Good Book You Can’t Put Down

That's the funny thing about happiness, it sneaks up on you when you're not looking.

Pumpkins on the steps leading up to your house.

A really good stretch that works out the kinks in your back.

Refinishing an old wooden chair, making it beautiful once again.

When you can’t stop yawning.

Standing on a frozen street corner, eating a hot dog with relish and ketchup.

Making a list of all the countries you’ll visit, the cities you’ll see -- plotting your way around the globe.

When someone quotes a line from a poem that you love.

Closing all your browser tabs at the end of the day.

Calling in sick, giving yourself a little time and space to feel better.

Making yourself a meal you really love, warm pasta, gooey cheese.

A pattern in the ceiling tiles you never noticed before.

Grabbing coffee and donuts after a lazy morning sleeping in.

A goodnight kiss from someone you love deeply.

A brand new pair of leather boots for fall.

A cat who meows too much, too many opinions, too much to say.

Dressing from head to toe in your favorite color.

Spending time with people who make you laugh.

Walking to the park with a little kid who’s riding their bike.

Learning how to knit, a bulky sweater slowly taking shape out of yarn.

Setting the table for a fancy dinner, with name cards and centerpieces.

Making popcorn at home, with lots of salt and real butter.

When you notice your own happiness and can appreciate it, almost like a good book you just can’t put down.
