Episode 73: An Entire Conversation in a Single Glance

So much can be said without words. Watching an old couple walk down the street. Arriving early to everything.

Taking a  very hot bath, luxuriating in the warmth and the stillness for what feels like hours.

An honest-to-goodness double rainbow in the sky, every color so vivid you can hardly believe it.

Lighting a brand new candle, the flicking light, relishing the warmth and the homey scent.

Giving up your seat for someone else on the bus or train.

How absolutely hysterical Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant are.

Looking at someone else quickly and having what feels like an entire conversation in a single glance.

Showing up ten minutes early to everything.

When the curtain comes down on a play that you absolutely loved.

The day you notice that there’s new emojis you’ve never seen before, how fun it is to find them all.

When someone leaves you a real physical note, and even seeing their handwriting makes you smile.

Curtains that keep blowing in the breeze, on a lazy afternoon.

Blowing out all the candles on a birthday cake, everyone laughing and singing.

Summoning up your courage to do something that’s hard for you, but you do it anyway.

Playing with someone else’s hair.

Planting flower bulbs long ago and seeing their cheery colors come peeking up through the ground.

Reading a book set in a part of the world you’ve never been -- feeling your mind make room for new ways of looking at the world around you.

Playing an instrument without having to think too hard about how to play, you’re just making music, reveling in the joy of it.

Seeing a very old couple walking down the street, holding hands and talking to one another.

Knowing that you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
