Episode 113: If We Can Appreciate the Small Things, We Can Handle the Big Things

Everyday happinesses, a greek chorus of joy, like kicking around a soccer ball, crispy edges of a cookie and a best friend who knows to text you only the choicest memes in all the land.

That there is so much to still find joy in, despite the state of the world.

The sunset reflected in the water on the lake.

Spotting a deer silently walking through the forest, suddenly alert, it sees you and meets your gaze.

A tray of chocolate chip cookies, the edges browned and crispy.

Night time yoga, a moment to breathe and let go of the day.

When a cat falls asleep next to you on the couch, putting its little paws on your arm.

Folding a stack of towels into neat squares before putting them away.

When you stop caring what other people are thinking, and wear what you want, say what you want, do what you want.

When you can’t think of anything to say, and it feels okay to sit in comfortable silence.

Making origami, slowly folding, turning, folding again until you have made something beautiful.

Looking at a Karaoke song book that’s chock full of ‘90s hits.

Trying new face wash and serums, feeling like a little chemist with your potions.

Kicking a soccer ball, running around on the short grass.

Knowing they love you, knowing it in every fiber of your being.

When a line or two from an old song gets stuck in your head all day.

Watching an ant carry something heavy, making its way homeward.

Your best friend texting you something that makes you laugh.
