Episode 115: You Just Might Be the Luckiest

Luck is only the tiniest part of everything, but this list of happy things is joyful. Reading cartoons from the paper, riding a bike again, playing with kittens and thinking about you.

Waking up a little groggy in the middle of the night, looking around and knowing you can go back to sleep for a while.

Hearing a Marvin Gaye song from the 1960’s, such a pure rush of emotion.

When a certain smell reminds you of someone you miss.

Pictures of the earth taken from outer space.

Getting an upgrade when you were least expecting it.

Losing all sense of yourself while dancing.

Your best friend having a moment of ultimate triumph in their personal life, feels as good as if you somehow triumphed too.

Reading Toni Morrison’s work, enjoying her words, wisdom, the beauty of her language.

A good piece of harmless gossip, about someone you barely know, that delights you to your core.

Playing with your friend’s new kittens.

Going on a deep dive into a meaningless subject online, and when you emerge hours later you’re now the resident expert on expired fast food menu items or something like that.

When someone asks you how they can be a help to you, and they mean it.

Getting something fixed on your bike, being able to go for long rides again.

Stealing the paper from a friend’s kitchen table, and reading all the cartoons, just like when you were a kid.

Seeing another country’s flag out in the world and trying to guess which country it is.

Movie theater popcorn.

Doing a fitness challenge with a friend.

When someone else’s order goes by at a diner and it just looks so delicious you think about changing your order.

Finding new ways to remind yourself of how lucky you are in this life, even when things are difficult.
